Wayward Dawn

About Wayward Dawn

Wayward Dawn plays intense and relentless death metal with a massive sound barrier of double bass pedals, heavy guitars played through classic Marshall amps, and a vocal that goes from abysmal growls to rancid and rotten screams. The musical specter spans broadly with inspiration from both old school and modern death metal, and the menu consists of fast tremolo-picking and blastbeats, slow and hard-hitting passages, and epic choruses. The lyrical universe features themes such as humanity and society seen from a nihilistic point of view.

The band has, among other things, played at Aalborg Metal Festival, supported bands like Nailed to Obscurity (DE), Jinjer (Ukraine), BAEST (DK) and Red Warszawa (DK) and is known for its hyperenergetic live shows with constant use of the windmill headbanging technique and manic interaction with the audience. Wayward Dawn was in the studio with Jacob Bredahl in Dead Rat Studio in March 2018 and releases their upcoming debut album on August 31st 2018.

Wayward Dawn

"The best metal band I've seen in the competition in years." - Anders, Assistant manager of Emergenza Festival Denmark. Formed in October 2015 in Skanderborg, Wayward Dawn slowly but surely began writing music and building their name. With inspiration from bands such as Gojira, Lamb of God and Behemoth, Wayward Dawn plays hard-hitting groove/death metal, while sometimes adding a pinch of black. After just one live show, they were booked to play at Cold Beers and Bleeding Ears in Slagelse, supporting bands like Jinjer from Ukraine and Electric Hellride and The Vision Ablaze from Denmark. Following that, they supported Red Warszawa in Skanderborg and made it all the way to the finale of the West Denmark Emergenza Festival, where judges from SPOT Festival and the Danish music magazine GAFFA voted them to win 2nd place out of 12 bands. In connection with Emergenza Festival, they have played at acknowledged venues like VoxHall and Train in Aarhus. To finish 2017 off, they supported Nailed to Obscurity from Germany and played at Aalborg Metal Festival together with I Am Morbid, Dark Funeral, Myrkur and many others. Now they are planning for the future. Currently in the process of writing their debut album coming in 2018. Until the album cycle begins, they plan on expanding their fan base by playing as many shows as possible.
