We’re ramping up a new subscription-based t-shirt service and we need creative illustrators to make original artwork for it. There are no rules nor are we looking for specific motives. We are, however, looking for visual designs that look cool on t-shirts. You decide the motive, visual style, and color of the the t-shirt.
What we’d like? Here’s a few pointers, topics, and a couple of examples on how we think.
- Relatively few colours
- Coolness – gotta have that Wauw Factor
Topics or styles could be:
- Pop culture
- Movie references
- Rock music references
- Street art
How do we think?
One of our favourite images comes from the Metallica album Death Magnetic.
Imagine Death as the Grim Reaper character, running or flailing his arms to fend off incoming knives, anvils, forks and spoons being drawn to him by the power of magnetism.
It could be the classic metal song Rainbow In The Dark. A bright rainbow on a black shirt. Or maybe a six shades of black rainbow on a black shirt.
Or how about a throwback to the original players, Dean, Frank, Sammy and Humphrey? The Rat Pack cartoonified as actual stylish rats.
But the thing is, we don’t necessarily need a pop cultural reference. Maybe you just want to make something that looks cool on a shirt. We’re totally behind that too! If you’re in doubt, just get us on the horn, and we’ll help you narrow things down.
How will you get paid?
Merch City is made for artists, and we want you to get paid. We offer 1000 DKK (roughly 134 EUR) for each design used, along with 10% of the profits.
What should you send us?
When you’ve finished your design, we need it in high res vector graphics format, such as .svg, .pdf, .ai, or .eps.
You should also provide us with the following:
- Full name
- Postal/Zip code
- Email adress
- Phone number
- Bank details:
- For Danish contributors we need registration and account number for your Danish bank account.
- If you do not have a Danish bank account, we need the IBAN and Swift codes for your international bank account.
The small print:
By contributing you confirm that you have the rights to the original material, and that you have not used copyrighted material in your design. You also agree to let Merch City use your design in the project as well as for marketing and promotion purposes.
Contributing designs are not guaranteed a place in the project. Should your design not be chosen, you are free to take it elsewhere. If, however, we decide to use it, you agree to letting Merch City use the design exclusively.
